The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty - Lust

The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag - Lust | Manicurity.com

 Nothing to Disclose

Hello hello hello! This Wednesday the topic for my Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag series is LUST. Each Wednesday - except during the Digit-al Dozen week - I've been answering the different questions for each sin from The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag. I've also been adding some original questions that relate specifically to nails, too! Check out this week's topic - lust.

LUST

1. What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Errr this question always seems so out of place for this tag? What I find most attractive in the opposite sex, or really any human at all that wants to be friends, too, is someone that is kind, patient, smart, and funny.

2. What brand has the most drool-worthy, gotta-have-it packaging?

[I borrowed this question from Stylish & Literate because I think it makes so much more sense for this tag and I wanted to answer it!]

I think as a brand overall Urban Decay has some of the most exciting packaging design because with almost every new product release, their packaging is also new and interesting. For instance all of the Naked palettes are similar but different packaging, and the limited edition Vice palettes are both different. So fun to see what they'll do next!

Another limited edition release that I was/am obsessed with the packaging is of course MAC's summer 2014 Alluring Aquatic collection. IT IS SO PRETTY! The water droplet finish is so realistic and gorgeous and I love the shade of teal they chose for the boxes and compacts <3_<3

BONUS NAIL QUESTION

Is there a particular polish you can't just say no to?

I am forever lusting after rainbow glitter top coats. I can't say no to them! I want all the colors and shapes. It's like every time a new glitter shape or finish comes out, there's a newly reformulated rainbow glitter top coat with EVEN MORE variety and so I have to have the new one >.<

#BecauseFutbol Simple Soccer Nail Art

 Nothing to Disclose

My beauties, have you been watching the World Cup this summer?! I definitely have been! I love having amazing quality soccer games so readily available on my Apple TV. After Sunday's game against Portugal, I am eagerly awaiting the next USA game this Thursday. To add some festivity to my hands this week, as someone with a penchant for nail polish would, I did this simple soccer nail art manicure.

Friday Five | Color Crave = Lush Leafy Greens

 Nothing to Disclose

TGIF my sweets! Today I'm craving some lush, leafy green tones. I've got a color crave! Something about the beginning of summer before things get too scorching hot has got me thinking of beautiful greens. Or maybe it's just that I've been spending too much time indoors and not enough times outdoors?! Anyway, here's a mix of some beauty and decor in tones of delicious green.

Friday Five | Color Crave = Lush Leafy Greens with Urban Decay, IKEA, CND, and Jordana | Manicurity.com

All of these green beauty products are ones I use and majorly ♥, while I'm currently really wanting the other two items (the green couch and that TDF wallpaper).

1. CND Green Scene - i.e. the very best green creme polish I have in my collection. I love it. This yellow-based, grassy green creme is used over and over again on the blog. Highly recommend!

2. Banana Leaf Wallpaper would look perfect in my office!! I would love some bright, fresh leaves in there will I'm working on things :)

3. Urban Decay Mildew eyeshadow is one of my favorite green eyeshadows! It's the perfect shade for me because it's not too light where it looks too much like a highlight, and it's also not so dark that I will look like a raccoon if I try to use it [*shakes fist at blackened teals because they're always darker than expected*]

4. HOLY GRAIL STATUS for the Jordana Easyliner Eye Pencil in Sea Green! For only $2 I love this retractable eyeliner because I don't have to sharpen it (a huge 'yay!' in the morning when I'm running late) and it stays fairly well on my waterline for the whole day. Also the color is pretty and once someone told me my eyes looked really pretty with it, so of course I'm into it.

5. I want a green couch like this IKEA Stockholm Sandbacka green couch. I will settle for a green couch cover, tho - and if it can be velvet like this inspo-couch I would be very pleased :D

Hope you have a lovely weekend!! Can't wait to catch up on a bunch of things this Saturday. Do you have any fun plans?

The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty - Pride

The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty - Pride | Manicurity.com

Morning my sweets! Today is Wednesday (obviously) so I'm writing another post for my Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag series about PRIDE. Each Wednesday - except during the Digit-al Dozen week (so no SDSoB post last week) - I've been answering the different questions for each sin from The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag. Originally I believe this was a YouTube beauty guru tag but I like words and pictures so I've adapted it for this lil blog series :) I've also been adding some original questions that relate specifically to nails, too! Check out this week's topic - pride.

PRIDE

1. What beauty product gives you the most self-confidence?

Fun, bold lipstick! A nice matte long-wearing lipstick in a fun shade (hot pink, mauve, red) definitely makes me feel very bad ass. I feel like it's the equivalent of a cool visible tattoo (not really, but almost) but much less painful!

BONUS NAIL QUESTION

What's your favorite blogged manicure post?

Such a tough decision! I think my #1 favorite blogged manicure so far EVAR has got to be my 'cats floating in the middle of galaxy' nails. See the full original post here.

The Digit-al Dozen: Cuprum Texture Nail Art

 Nothing to Disclose

Woo woo! This week of Digit-al Dozen #MetalManis have been fab so far! Today I have some copper inspired nail art. It's definitely not the most original idea for this theme (and we've seen it interpreted by other DD ladies so far this week), but I love realistic texture nail art like this so I just had to do it too :p Plus these colors are gorgeous together, right?!

The Digit-al Dozen: Mokume-gane Nail Art

 Nothing to Disclose

Moving right along with June's Digit-al Dozen theme of 'metal' today I have some nail art inspired by a beautiful mixed metal forging technique originating in 17th-century Japan! Not to get your hopes up but I am not a sword collector; I [of course] found out about the mokume-gane technique used for jewelry while browsing for hours on Pinterest (follow me here!). I knew that the mokume-gane look would be easy and fun to recreate as nail art, so here we are! Check it out!

The Digit-al Dozen: Chain Mail Nails

 Nothing to Disclose

Hello all! Hope you're enjoying this month's Digit-al Dozen theme of 'metal' so far! I think this was definitely another one of those themes that seemed very intimidating at first, but all of the other DDers have done such a brilliant job so far (don't forget to check out the other manicures at the end of the post)! Today I have a subtle stamping mani inspired by Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones.

Friday Five | 5 Fundamental Polishing Products - Perfect At-Home Manicure From Start to Finish

I firmly believe that it's the foundation and finishing touches on a manicure that really make the difference, and not necessarily the polish in between. I don't turn my nose up at polishes that only cost a dollar because with the right base coat and top coat they last just as long (and sometimes longer!) than my super top-of-the-line luxury high end $$$ nail polish. It's all about body chemistry! Once you find the right base coat and top coat for you, doing manicures and impressive #nailart at home is easy, super fun, and long lasting. Today I'm sharing my top five fundamental polishing products that make my at-home manicures a breeze.

Friday Five | 5 Fundamental Polishing Products - Perfect Products to DIY an At-Home Manicure From Start to Finish - Manicurity loved and recommends! Featuring Zoya, e.l.f., butterLondon, and KBShimmer | Manicurity.com

Take it Off: Zoya Remove+

I have tried other nail polish removers but I always come back to this one! Zoya Remove+ is an acetone nail polish remover with glycerin (the 'plus' part, but I guess that could technically extend to the lovely purple shade and scent, too). The glycerin makes this remover a tad bit gentler and less drying for your hands and nails. It's also THE BOMB DOT COM in terms of speed; acetone is quick, too, but this doesn't give me those super dry chalky white fingers like acetone can. I also highly recommend the flipper, pump-top refillable bottle that the 8oz comes in - you can get a similar pump-top bottle at a beauty store but the Zoya one is very high quality IMO.

It is important to note that some people question if Zoya Remove+ hinders wear time of a new manicure because the glycerin left on the nail bed might keep a fresh base coat from applying well. I don’t feel like this is a problem for me personally but if you are struggling with wear time this could be the culprit! A quick swipe of rubbing alcohol or pure acetone to really dehydrate the nail plate immediately before applying a base coat would help.

Perfect Base: butterLondon Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat

I am such a fangirl for the butterLondon Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat!! First, it dries matte so you know when your base coat is really truly ready to polish over which helps wear time. Second, it is a light peach-beige color (‘nude’ish for me) which is great because you can tell exactly where you've applied your base coat (I have totally missed a swipe before with a clear base coat). The lightly tinted color of this base coat also cuts down on VNL (visible nail line) and helps me skip a coat of polish sometimes. Imagine all of your 4-5 coaters are now magically 3-4 coaters?! Heavenly! It is expensive but I think the time saved during polishing and the longer wear it provides me on manicures is totally worth it. At 17.5ml it does last a wee bit longer than a typical base coat and I don’t mind re-buying it approximately once a year. Below I'm wearing one coat of the bL basecoat.

Polishing Time!

Now you'll polish your nails! I use the method Lacquerized illustrated (read her post here!), but I usually start my first stroke on the far left, then do one on the far right side, and then the final stroke down the middle.

Clean Up: Pure Acetone + e.l.f. Concealer Brush

I get my Beauty Secrets Pure Acetone from Sally Beauty because it's the best deal I've found but any pure acetone will do! I pour a little bit of acetone into the cap of the bottle and dip the e.l.f. Concealer Brush from Target into it to clean up any stray polish and perfect 'the gap’ I made when polishing. I love having a tiny gap because I think it looks much nicer to have a smooth shape when your polish starts to grow out vs. an irregular polish line at the cuticle end that looks all jagged. The gap also allows you to full encapsulate your polish with quick dry top coat so that it's sealed in really well.

Top it Off: Quick Dry Top Coat

There are so many excellent options for quick dry top coat - thank goodness! I've enjoyed using Seche Vite, HK Girl, Cult Nails Wicked Fast, and the Color Club top coat. I’m always sort of looking for that perfect blend of lightning speed dry time, super shiny finish, self-leveling, non-smearing, and the right price point for a top coat (because I go through it much MUCH faster than base coat) - i.e. a beautiful unicorn of a top coat.

Currently I’m using KBShimmer Clearly On Top and I really like the brush because it’s like a tiny OPI Pro-Wide (rectangular, flat) and that means less strokes and less chances to smear my nail art all over. BUT the KBShimmer Clearly on Top brush doesn’t quite reach the bottom of the bottle and so the last little bit is always left in there, unreachable :( I think next I’ll be trying Poshe since it has a few less chemicals than some fast dry top coats!

Do you use any of these products or do you have something better?! Please share your holy grail polishing products in the comments!

It has been a hot minute since I managed to actually blog nail art that wasn't during the Digit-al Dozen week (it's a challenge for a reason, eh?!)! I'm technically on vacation right now but I managed to blog anyway :p Today I've got some really detailed, busy floral nails to show you! The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty - Sloth

The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty: Sloth - what product are you too lazy to apply? what nail art technique are you too lazy to do? | Manicurity.com

 Nothing to Disclose

Happy hump day! So you know what that means? Another sin to answer questions about! Today I'm talking about SLOTH in my Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag series. Each Wednesday - except during the Digit-al Dozen week (which is next week! eek!) - I've been answering the different questions for each sin from The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag. Originally I believe this was a YouTube beauty guru tag but I like words and pictures so I've adapted it for this lil blog series :) I've also been adding some original questions that relate specifically to nails, too! Check out this week's topic - sloth.

[source]

SLOTH

1.  What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?

It's sort of a tie between an illuminating highlighter (I typically 'highlight' with a concealer on an everyday basis) and powder blush (I usually use cream blush anyway). If I'm doing something especially dramatic on my eyes AND lips I don't always bother with the extra step of applying blush, too because I find it can be a little much.

BONUS NAIL QUESTION

What time-consuming nail art technique do you avoid?

Most likely water marbles! Which is a bummer because I feel like you have to practice them by doing them to get better at it, but they can be so infuriating that I don't immediately want to try again! I have been trying to do them more regularly lately, tho. Below are some recent water marble manis I've done; click here to view all of my posts tagged water marble.
