The Digit-al Dozen does Metal: Black Hills Gold Inspired Freehand Floral Nails

  Press Sample

Hi all! I'm excited about this week because it's that time again - The Digit-al Dozen challenge! This month we're doing nails inspired by the theme of 'metal'.  Luckily there are lots of polishes in a rainbow of chrome finishes ;) Today I'm starting the week off with some Black Hills Gold jewelry inspired nails - using the floral and leaf motif to do a freehand rose gold roses manicure!!

The Design

Gold used in jewelry is mixed with different alloys to get different shades of gold because pure gold is too soft; it's how we have the choice of white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold options when shopping. I thought it would be fun and meta to do rose gold roses, but the contrast was a little hard to see - copper on top of gold isn't vastly different! So I opened up my polish color palette and got inspired by Black Hills Gold jewelry which uses green, rose, yellow, and white gold to complete these freehand floral nails. I enjoyed doing these more abstracted rose shapes instead of the 'traditional' rose bud design; they're very easy to do and remind me of how easy cheetah print is.

The Polishes

For my base I used two coats of Essie Good as Gold from the Mirror Metallics (pssst. you will probably see a lot of the polishes from this collection this week!). Then I used Sinful Colors Nirvana, Essie Penny Talk, and Rainbow Honey Femme Bot (press sample; see full review post here) for my blossoms. For my leaves I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri No S-pear Time, then topped everything with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Don't forget to check out the other manicures for today below!!

Disclosure: An item in this post was sent as a press sample for my consideration; all opinions are 100% my own! If you'd like to know more about my policies, please see my disclosure page.
