Nothing to Disclose
Happy Friday my loves! Today is the last day of The Digit-al Dozen does METAL week! I have something beautiful and sparkly to show you :) I've been dying to use the beautiful glitter topper polish 'Steampunk' from indie brand Loaded Lacquer since I got it but nothing felt quite right with it until now. Check it out!
There's not really a ton of 'design' that went into this, but I think a well done gradient is such a classic and beautiful nail art technique! I picked two metallic colors that I thought would show off the shades of glitter in Steampunk and did a half-and-half gradient. My favorite tips for gradients that I find the most helpful is to lightly damp the sponge before applying the polish AND make sure you mix the transition colors to get a smoother movement. I try to overlap a stroke of each color in the middle and sometimes if they're colors that don't naturally mix well - like these two - I will use an orange stick and swirl the transition area together.
I did two quick coats of Sally Hansen Gunmetal as my base color because it's more sheer than Essie Good as Gold. Then I put both Gunmetal and Good as Gold onto a sponge and sponged onto my nails a few times until it reached the opacity and smooth transition of colors that I was looking for. One dabbled coat of Loaded Lacquer Steampunk and I was all done!! I really liked how quickly the Loaded Lacquer base seemed to dry down so that when I topped my manicure with quick dry top coat I didn't slodge all of the layers all over.
Don't forget to check out the other designs for today below!
Steampunk is a really beautiful 'neutral glitter' and I really love this manicure! Not very complicated to achieve, but a beautiful nail art look nonetheless :D
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
