GiftMy base color is 3 coats of Orly Beach Cruiser, a neon pink polish, then topped it with Essie Matte About You. For my gold drip designs I used my Barry M Gold Foil Effects and glossy top coat.
Today I've finally tackled a nail art idea I've had since I got my new phone case. I've been obsessed with the SwitchEasy Melt case for forever and I was pleased as punch when my boyfriend surprised me with the metallic gold + hot pink combo for Valentine's Day (appropriate, right?!). So since the theme this week is texture I tried to mimic the molten look and play with matte vs. glossy. Check 'em out!
The inspiration for this design is so simple and awesome - just some nicely proportioned, 3D drip patterns. I tried to mimic this look by painting shadows and highlights, as well as using a small dotting tool to make grooves in the polish to make it really appear layered. I think it was somewhat successful, but the shadows could have been a little more subtle.
You know how sometimes you have a picture of what something would be like in your head, but what you accomplish doesn't always match?! I definitely feel that way about these nails. I love the Melt phone case design so much that I was really bummed I couldn't re-create it as well on my nails. Oh well!!
NOW don't forget to check out the other designs for today below!
Disclosure: I bought all the things mentioned, except for the phone case which was a gift from my boyfriend (but he bought it with his own dolla dolla bills)! If you'd like to know more about my policies, please see my disclosure page.
