((freshly washed and drying))

The HD Brush Set with Tweezers (and mirror!) from Crown Brush comes with six soft synthetic brushes in three different color choices that are great for traveling! I received the beautiful purple set to test and I've been using these brushes with a variety of different products. Do these synthetic, vegan friendly brushes live up to the claim of being able to apply liquids, creams, and powders?! Read on to find out!

These brushes satisfy all the things I look for in brushes. Are they soft? Yes, very soft - they rival my previously 'softest brush' winners EcoTools. Can they put the products I want onto my face without a ton of frustration? In general, yep! I will talk a little bit more about all of the brushes in detail as we take a closer look at each one below. Do they shed a lot? Not a lot of shedding; the usual few bristles here and there after the first initial wash, but none since then. Are they a good value? I think so - each brush come to about $5 (if you think of the case and tweezers as 'freebies'), which I think is pretty nice. The handles are nice and feel smooth and balanced in my hand. Plus I love the color choices for these sets and I appreciate that this synthetic brush set is vegan friendly!

Now let's zoom in a little bit on each brush! There are 6 brushes in the set - 3 face brushes and 3 eye brushes. Let me work my way down from the largest brush in the set to the smallest one, with a little detail on what the brush is labeled as (conveniently located on the handle) and what I find them most useful for.

Pro Powder Brush

Obviously this is a powder brush! I find it a little bit floppier and with slightly longer bristles than I prefer my powder brushes, but this is nice for lightly blending things - like my final pass blending of bronzer near my hairline, etc.

Tapered Blush Brush

Allows for precise blush placement because of it's small circumference and short bristles. I've gotta say, this and the next brush are two of my favorite brushes from this set and I use them all the time! So soft and easy to blend with and for me this hits that sweet spot between being too floppy and too firm. I really love to use this brush for specific placement - like a shimmery powder blush layered to overlap between a cream blush and my highlighter on the edges of my cheekbones

Deluxe Contour

I love love the shape of this brush! It's like an oversized crease brush for your face - slightly firm, densely packed and super soft (as are all of the brushes). This is great for subtle contouring and especially helpful if you want to HAC on your nose, and in other small places like near your lips. I have especially liked using this brush to set my under eye concealer with powder because I feel like I can really get into that area well with this brush shape!

Now we'll get into the three eye brushes in this set!

Crease Brush

If you do more simple eye looks (like 3 colors, max) then I think this is a great crease brush because it's sort of large for the crease, but a little to dense to be a 'super fluffy blending brush'. I like to use it to blend out with a slightly neutral transition shade using this brush - say a large sweeping of Wet n Wild's Nutty in the crease. If you're doing a more complex look this would probably work better as a blending brush. I like this brush in conjunction with the other two brushes in this set (almost like they planned it that way, right?!)

Chisel Shadow

Is a great classic eyeshadow brush for packing color onto the lid. I've used this with creams and powders and I think it works equally well with both. It has slightly longer bristles than my typical eyeshadow brushes of the same shape and therefore is a little less firm, but I like it because I can vary the intensity from a wash of color on the lid to a more serious placement of color.

Detail Liner

This brush is a little longer and less refined than I usually use for 'liner' brushes. I like it the very most for doing small color details - like the inner corner of the eye, or a small sneaky, precise addition of color in the crease. I also find it really helpful for darkening the outer V (I pretty much always do an 'open banana' eye look, but I'm trying to branch out lately, promise)

Tweezers

I don't use tweezers super often (mostly for nail stuff since I have like 10 eyebrow hairs and like to keep them on my face) so I am not a tweezer expert. These seem like decent tweezers! They grab things easily without stressing my hand out and the tips are pointed, but not toooo pointy like a dagger. I love that they fit so well in the case because I can see myself traveling and being like "bahhhh I need tweezers!" and then they would already be there chilling in the case, like a helpful secret ninja. Cool!

Overall

These brushes are really very soft and dense, and I think the set is a fab value - 6 brushes for less than $30 sounds good to me! If you don't include the little carrying case with the tweezers, the brushes are roughly $5 a piece. For someone with a large collection of brushes, these might not be a revolutionary little set but for someone looking for either some new brush shapes, an intro to some of what Crown Brush has to offer, or to add some synthetic brushes to their collection I would definitely recommend them. My two stand out brushes are the tapered blush brush and the small contour, and the three eye brushes are a nice addition to my stash. I think this set would be great for travel because the case is handy and the six brushes can get me through some basic, neutral everyday looks in a snap.

Great for someone that's looking to add a great starter set to their collection and/or travels a lot
Good if you are looking for an inexpensive way to try some new brush shapes
Skip if you have huge makeup brush collection
(perhaps the tapered blush brush and the small contour brushes are totally normal for people that have a lot of brushes?!)

Have you tried anything from the brand Crown Brush? What Crown Brush brushes should I try next?!
