Becca The One Perfecting Brush - Your HAC Soulmate?

Becca's The One Perfecting Brush claims it can replace 10 of your current beauty tools AND cut your makeup application time in half, which is a pretty huge deal. So is The One + my makeup routine meant to be?! Totally! I'm smitten with how quick and seamless it makes the HACing process (i.e. highlighting and contouring) when I'm in the mood to go all-out with my face makeup.

Does it really replace TEN brushes? The One is meant to replace your foundation brush, powder brush, contour brush, bronzer brush, stipple brush, blush brush, fan brush, concealer brush, kabuki brush AND sponge. For me it replaces 7 of those brushes; The One eliminates my need for contour, blush, highlight, and blending brushes which is pretty amazing! I still prefer a sponge to apply my foundation and a concealer brush for under my eyes, but I typically use cream products for that. People that use liquid foundation would probably enjoy this brush for their base product application, too.

Specifically I love this brush for highlighting and contouring because it gives me really precise applications of contour, highlight, and blush. The unique rectangular shape and tightly packed non-porous bristles lets me apply a variety of products without having to switch brushes in between but still blends incredibly well!! Sometimes I apply blush to too much of my cheeks and blending it only spreads it out further; by using the corner of The One I can put my blush on very specific parts of my face with a natural, blended application. While testing I found that The One works equally well with creams, liquids, and powders - altho it does seem to drink in a little more liquid highlighter than I would like (but not more so than any other brush).

If I had to be nitpicky to think of a con for this brush it's that the unique shape of the brush which makes it so wonderful for applying products in turn makes it less wonderful for storage. I usually leave this brush horizontally somewhere and thus it takes up a little more space than a traditional brush (which can be stored upright in a jar or other similar container).

Features

  • SUPER SOFT, dye-free and tightly packed, non-porous goat hair bristles
  • Interesting horizontal rectangular shape - flat edges fit the contours of your face and curved corners make for more precise applications
  • Unique handle with 'soft-touch' finish - an almost velvety texture

Pricing & Availability

Grab it at Sephora for $49

Overall

Let me put it this way: if I could go back in time (or maybe forward in time since this is a new product?) and choose between investing in The One vs. buying lots of other separate brushes (at varying price points that definitely add up to way more than $50) I would save for The One. I think the soft, densely packed bristles + the time it saves me by making both application AND blending super easy is worth the $$. Finally, the awesomeness of the brush outweighs how awkward its unique shape is when it comes to storing it

Great for: Simplifying your makeup routine and/or the beauty lover that's often traveling
(1 brush vs. 10+ brushes = good for packing)

Skip if: You honestly don't wear any 'face' makeup and don't see yourself adding any to your routine

  2. I'm with Lisa on this, that is one HUGE brush!

If I ever get it, I'll only use it to replace 3 brushes (foundation, powder and highlighter) so it might be something worth getting.

  3. The brush is indeed huge, but at least it's worth it and can replace more than one standard brush. I'd definitely use this for powder, brush, highlighting, and contouring! I'm still sticking to my traditional foundation brush and sponge for applying my liquid base.

  6. I have seen one YouTube guru who used the similar kind of huge brush. I wonder if there’s a huge powder makeup that will match the size of that brush too. He-He. gig

  7. isn't it too big for ease of handling? plus, i wouldn't use the same brush for foundation, blush, bronzer, concealer etc... makes it impossible to cut out product x-contamination.
    gig love

  8. I have the same question with MollyMia how do you avoid product cross contamination? Do you have to wash it all the time?
