This week on the blog the theme for nail art is alllll about rocks and minerals! Today I've got some sort of eccentric 3D nail art inspired by unpolished malachite. While polished malachite is beautiful with its random pattern of rings and shades of deep green, I was struck by how unusual and bumpy the exterior of it can be. Check these out!
To get this look, because I know you're dying to spot these almost witchy warty nails post-Halloween, it's not particularly challenging to do - just time consuming. I used rounded studs and bullion beads in different sizes to make a random, bumpy pattern on my nails. Then I used a thin coat of one of the Zoya Pixie Dusts over all the 3D pieces to add another level of texture [ps. I sort of wish I had done two coats to get a grittier texture].
For the green, I used CND's Green Scene and added some depth in the crevices with a black creme. Finally I topped it with a fair amount of quick dry to get a nice shine on the larger pieces! The hardest/longest part was just dealing with placing all the pieces and having to 're-wet' my nail with top coat.
How do you like my weird 3D unpolished malachite nail art?! A great start to rocks and mineral week or WHAT? Now check out the other nail arts below!
