The Digit-al Dozen Does Black & White: Edgy Freehand Herringbone Nail Art featuring Cult Nails Fetish

What I'm really loving about black and white week so far is that the bold contrast of black and white just looks so dang good, that it's okay if the designs aren't 100% perfect!! Today I've got these striking freehand herringbone nails mixed with some more low-key Cult Nails Fetish (i.e. a waxy-finish, quick drying 1-coat black polish) nails with some topcoat'd details. Check 'em out!

For the herringbone nails (I keep calling them herringbone because I'm like 90% sure that's actually what the pattern is called?!) I followed this awesome tutorial which calls them chevrons. I was surprised by how easy it was, especially broken down into easy-to-follow steps! You'll definitely need a dainty striper brush to get the job done, tho.

My ring and pinkie (and thumb!) nails are all just 1 amazinggggg coat of Cult Nails Fetish with some straight-across half moons done with tape. Super simple and quick, the sort of detail I adore in person (and can never get to photograph correctly, but c'est la vie!). This was my first time using Fetish and I was soo impressed with it; opaque in one coat, great formula (other similar polishes can really drag, because the polish seems to start 'setting' once it hits the nail), and quick drying. I managed to do those tape accents like 20 minutes after painting, no fast dry top coat required!

Overall I am really happy with this look :) Now check out the other black and white nails for today below!

  9. Chevrons are more of a zig zag pattern, this is definitely herringbone. Your herringbone design look awesome especially if this is your first time doing it. I haven't gathered the nerves yet to try something like this. And I love the tape accent on Fetish.
