The Digit-al Dozen Does SKITTLES! featuring Rainbow Garland Dot Nails

First things first, it's time for the Digit-al Dozen again and this week we're doing skittles! Skittles are really fun, but they're also really challenging for me because I'm not always sure I can pull off a cohesive look with 5 different ideas (and 5 days of them?! that means 25 different designs! yikes!). Today I'm starting with a 'simple' skittle idea loosely inspired by some new sheets I picked up at Target (home decor is like my #1 other passion/art inspiration, so many great patterns!). Second thing, I'm #sorrynotsorry I use dots a lot of the time. Believe it or not this is my second time doing a dotty idea that turned out looking very much like a fun party garland. Oh well! Check 'em out!

Dotty nail art seems to garner the most "omg, I could never do that" or "that looks so hard!" comments, but really - they are so easy. That's why I almost automatically dot everything! Painting 3+ coats of an off-white nail polish and waiting for it to dry as my base actually took the longest part of this nail art.

To make this more skittle-y and add some variety, each nail uses 2 colors and slightly different patterns. I really liked the play of large and small dots, and I sneaked most of my favorites into this (like SH Mint Sorbet, Pure Ice French Kiss, etc.). There are some bright pastels in the mix too, and I think that makes it read a little bit more nursery than I intended, but it's still pretty.

Don't forget to check out the other skittles below! And now I'm crazy hungry for the candy, Skittles :p

PS. If you're curious about any of the individual colors, just let me know.

  12. This design is so stunning, Emma! I have to say, I have been really loving ALL of your nail art lately. I love how this looks like garland, and I think it could be a really cool winter or Christmas mani depending on the colors used. As a matter of fact, maybe I'll do a copy-cat of this in December. :)
