Cutesy Wootsy Polka Dotty

If you checked out my Yabbly nails on Facebook (and/or you follow me on Instagram) you might have seen my new nail shape. It's one of those totally not a big deal, but still a big deal things - like getting highlights or a new hair cut, you know? Anyhoo, I had a couple of really bad corner breaks because my square nails were too long (and I might have thrown my hand into my friend's metal ceiling brace rail thingy on accident one day a few weeks ago) so I decided to try for a more almondy-roundy shape, maintaining the length and just sort of filing the corner off where the breaks were. There are so many fun designs you can do when your nails are round on the ends - shoes, bunnies, hearts, etc! So today I've got some polka dots with a heart accent to show you :D

These are really basic and easy to do, but look complicated and super cute because the polka dots are tiny! I used two different very small needle-shaped dotting tools and varied the dot colors. I'm still really enjoying the sheer base (two coats of OPI Don't Touch my Tutu) under things like dots; a refreshing contrast for spring and summer with bright colors. For the dots I used OPI Who the Shrek are You? (lime green), Illamasqua Cameo (blue), China Glaze Peachy Keen (peachy orange), and Revlon Red Bikini (red-orange).

To do the heart I used a short striping brush and did the general outline of the top peaks, then filled in the heart with the brush from the polish bottle (because it went to the ends, and that way I could wrap my tips in pink, too!) with Wet n Wild Lavender Creme.

Are you a polka dot fan? I can't get enough of them! They're my favorite go-to design.

    1. Yay! Now we're like nail shape TWINS!!! Thanks :) I am totally a fan of switching it up once in a while, and the best part that is that changing your nail shape is SO much easier than say, going from shoulder length hair to a pixie cut :p

    1. Thanks!! Dots are literally the easiest nail art technique, at least for me personally - all you do is dip a tool into paint and lightly tap it on your nail - ta-dah!
