Digit-al Dozen x TGIF: Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum + Patronus art

The end of each Digit-al Dozen week makes me sad, but I've got one last book mani to share with you! For this pairing of Digit-al Dozen x TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday! I've got the infamous Expecto Patronum from Dollish Polish, inspired by the spell to conjure a patronus in Harry Potter. If you're not a big HP fan (how dare you and how are we internet friends?! jk.), a patronus is a guardian that is a projection of your positive feelings that takes the form of an animal. In the books and movies patronuses are used as a defense against Dementors (they suck out your soul, ick) and as a form of communication (because the animal forms the patronus takes are different for each person). Anyhoo, check out my nailz!

Because I really wanted the crelly base and the flakies in EP to look very soft, I did one coat of butterLondon Nail Foundation as a base coat, then two thin coats of OPI Don't Touch my Tutu, then two thin coats of Expecto Patronum. It's pretty much perfect in every way, and I could also totally see this as wedding polish - sheer white with tiny blue glitters. It ends up looking sort of peachy/light pink because I didn't add a ton of coats and the bL Nail Foundation is beige, but I like it. My patronus accent nail is just wispy, thin brush motions and some dots using white, light grey, and blue. I also used a little OPI Don't Touch My Tutu on top to sort of soften it = > great in person, and crazy hard to photograph because my camera was all "I want to focus on the black nail! But it's hard to see! NOW EVERYTHING IS BLURRY, YOU'RE WELCOME BYE. Is it lunch time yet...?" [my camera is a jerk].

Harry Potter was such an integral part of my childhood and foundation in reading large-ish books. I devoured them, and then would read them over and over each time a new one was scheduled to come out. In the end this week seems to be sort of a bizarre and bittersweet week of nostalgic book designs for me - definitely conjured (har har) up a lot of happy childhood memories of coloring books on airplanes (I traveled a lot when I was little) and the amazement of pop up books each time you turn a page, even when you know what's going to happen. Book week has been good to me and I really enjoyed it! I hope you did, too!

Check out the other designs for today below.

What form do you think your patronus would be? I used to be really into orca whales, then wolves, and now giraffes so I would be very happy with any of those being my patronus :) OR A GUINEA PIG but they aren't particularly large or brave, so I don't really know if they would keep me safe - unless it was a capybara! >.<

Have a happy, glittery weekend! I'll be around with some swatches and stuff, so check back when you're relaxin' this Sat & Sun
