DEXTER Week: No Blood. What a Beautiful Idea.

Oh man, I'm sad that Dexter Week is at an its end! It's been crazy fun (and gross), and everyone has done really fantastic nail artz. Today I've got nails inspired by the Ice Truck Killer, the first counter-murderer for Dexter from the very first season. I started watching the first season alllll over again last night and the whole episode I was all "Omg, Deb is so awkward! This isn't even shot in HD! They didn't have HD 7 years ago?! Whoa, seven years, this show is as old as a second grader (I totally measure things this way IRL)! Dexter is so much more lighthearted this season." And holy shmow, the ITK drops a severed head on Dexter's car in the very first episode. Basically watching just the first episode again was so good and reminded me how incredibly complex and detailed the show is; somehow it weaves back and forth in a believable way (for a show where the main character is secretly a serial killer, you know). *Sigh*

I think this is a friendly message like, "Hey! wanna play?" and yes I wanna play. I really really do

The Ice Truck Killer is the perfect first foil for Dexter because he's so much more than just a killing 'peer' (trying not to give away secrets here, but it's a great twist the first time you hear about it). The prosthetic arm painted in this skittle mani was important evidence from the ITK's home from season one and it pops up again in seasons six and seven (it gets stolen from the evidence room and auctioned off!). Basically, this goofy skittle manicure is more central to the entire show than it seems at first glance so I thought it would be a great thing to sum up the whole week. PS. If you think my hand looks gross/weird, it's because I caked on some foundation and mattifying powder in an attempt to make it look odd on purpose and the first image is supposed to be in an evidence bag ;)

I finally watched the Season 8 trailer today and geeeeeze, DEB! What R U doing?! It's weird that she seems to bounce back from the end of season one pretty okay, but she's just bananas after season seven >.< I'm really nervously awaiting the craziness that will be the final season! I think after the tragedy of the fourth season the show has gotten much darker (darker than a show about serial killers hanging out with serial killers can be...) and I think we all knew this show would never end 'well', so I'm very much intrigued by the final outcome.

  2. This is perfection. Awesome ITK nail job! Also...here's my theory on Deb in season 8...she has to go bat shit crazy because she is THE most emotional character in the show (which is why I love her) and if she bounced back after the final episode of the last season then I don't think her "character" would've stayed true. But I was watching the preview with my jaw on the floor...I was like...what the hell Deb! Crazy days I tell ya.

    1. So true!! She's been through quite a lot, too, so it's not surprising that she'd finally hit a breaking point. She is a normal human after all! Thanks :D
