Stripey TGIF: Candy Lacquer Cupcake Wars

This week's  TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday!  is actually made of stripes!! It's 'Cupcake Wars' from Candy Lacquer, which is comprised of different metallic bar glitters in a clear base and that's it - just bar glitters. I'm really pleased that none of the metallic bar glitters in this polish seem to be curling at all - not reflectively or forrealsies!

I layered one coat of Cupcake Wars over 1x CND Green Scene, 2x Essence Nude It!, 1x Sinful Colors Rain Storm, and 2x Zoya Raven (from pointer to pinkie). I like this polish but I don't love it; maybe I haven't found the right base polish to make it sing yet?! I think it looks best over nude and black in my swatches, personally. It's a cool idea and it is executed very well, but I just don't love it. I don't think this particular polish is still available, but she does have an all matte bar glitter polish that was recently released. Currently Candy Lacquer is on vacation until March 24th, and her Big Cartel store is closed until then (obvs) - but it's a bummer because I can't view any of her recent polishes aside from the photos she has uploaded to her FB page.

Now I'm curious, do you have this polish? Love it, hate it, meh it? I meh it - great idea and execution, but it doesn't spark an immediate OMG from me.

Candy Lacquer polishes are available at her Big Cartel store ($8.50). You can view updates and new colors on the Candy Lacquer Facebook page. She is currently on vacation until March 24th, tho.
Don't forget to check out Kirsten's TGIF post over at Geeky Owl.

And finally, don't forget to check out my fellow striped friends this week - Kerrie at Pish Posh and Polish, Ashley of Smashley Sparkles, and The (one and only) Crumpet!

  1. I am impressed that they are curling either! That's pretty awesome!
