I Geek over Glitter

Today I've got another thing that I geek out over - GLITTERRRR! I love glitter! My iPhone case is bright purple glittery goodness, in fact :p So I've got a fun glittery ombre skittle set to share with you. I thought I'd do it a little differently so I started with my darkest glitter color and worked my way towards the lightest one.

This was also my first time using the magical peel-off glue basecoat for this mani! My experience with it was so-so; I kept messing up my middle two fingers (they were thick and I kept dinging them on stuff) so it took me maybe an hour for the glue base to be ready. I didn't find the experience to be really time saving at all, but it was definitely fun to peel glitter off knowing I wasn't totally screwing up my nail plate! Plus there is a certain amount of satisfaction knowing that when you're done with glitter it'll be a breeze to take off instead of the dreaded waiting, foiling, scrubbing, foiling, shaking your fists in the air, etc.

From pointer to pinkie:
  • 3 coats of bL Shambolic - whoa, super pretty blue sparkles in the base I had no idea about!
  • 1 coat of Hits Pink Pop over 2 coats Zoya Gloria
  • 2 coats of Seche Vite Collage over 2 coats of Orly Rose Gold
  • 2 coats of OPI Crown Me Already over 1 coat of SH Celeb city - dumb move because it just made it look bumpy instead of blingy :-/

Have you tried the glue basecoat yet?! I do look forward to trying it again soon, maybe a little bit thinned out the second time around!

And don't forget the other geeky goodness today; check it out below!

  5. I haven't had any issues with the glue base! I squirt some glue onto my palette, use a square nail art brush to paint on a thin layer, and it's dry within 5 minutes.

    1. Lucky duck! I squirted glue into a polish bottle and applied with the brush and it was a gloopy mess. Your way sounds so much easier!!
