Hoppy Easter!

I've got a fun quick Easter-y EOTD + nail fail to show you this evening! I thought it would be fun to play with my pastel eyeshadows from Lime Crime and do some Easter candy themed nail art. The nails didn't turn out how I wanted, but the makeup did. Take a look!

I tried to do mini Cadburry egg nails, but using my Tri-Polish Challenge polishes and it was just sort of messy in the end. I layered a white jelly on top of the bright colors to tone them down, but it all just looked a little sloppy to me instead of cute.

The eye look is based on one from the Makeup Box (a really awesome makeup tumblr with lots and lots of easy tutorials and creative ideas), but I can't find the original look right now. Instead of using Lime Crime Uniliners like she does (which I do NOT find opaque in one coat and all of my brushes are frayed #firstworldproblems), I used LASplash eyeliner base and patted the green shadow, Absinthe-Minded, on with an angled brush. The LASplash eyeliner base is pretty much sticky primer/glitter glue with a thin liquid eyeliner brush applicator; it's a little less messy than using liquid sealant drops because you put the base down and then pat on top instead of mixing two things together. I love wearing these three colors together this way because they are soft and pretty without being NEON pastels. The e.l.f. primer I am using currently for testing purposes did not fare particularly well with the Lime Crime shadows; it doesn't crease, it just gets really patchy and fades where my eyelids crease. I used the pink shadow, Royal Flush, for blush and I thought it looked awesome so now I desperately want to buy all the baby pink blushes in the world, mwhahaha.

The lips were just for fun! I put Chinchilla on my top lip and then Countessa Fluorescent on my bottom lip, smushed them together, and got an interesting ombre effect. I had a horrible time photographing my lips and give extreme props to ladies that make it look so effortless! Chinchilla is a grey lipstick, but it looks very pretty and purpley on me. Maybe someday soon I will make it out of the house with lipstick on!

  1. I LOVE THOSE LIPS! A coworker and I were just talking about Chinchilla the other day, saying that we were afraid to buy it because we thought it would make us look to corpse like. It looks gorgeous on you.. I might have to re-think my first decision!

    1. Aww thanks! I felt so dang awkward trying to photograph my mouth, ha. Chinchilla looks very very purpley on me (obvs), so I definitely think it's worth checking out! There are some indie cosmetic brands that have some crazy lip colors with really inexpensive samples that I want to play with (like light blue, mint, yellow) :p
