ABC: Q + R = Sally Hansen Quick Brick, Ruby Rush, and Ring-a-Ding!

Ah, I was a naughty little ABC challenger and forgot to prepare my Q post for last week and then I got sick. I thought the best solution was to wait until this week's ABC day and lump Q and R together in an awesome mega-post! Hilariously, all of the polishes I'm using today are Sally Hansen brand on accident (pulling from my untrieds drawer). Let's get to it!

First up is Insta-dri Quick Brick, a seasonal limited edition release from fall 2011. The whole collection is stunning! They are all opaque in two coats, deep, vibrant, shimmery, juicy, luscious, beautiful, etc. This polish is fun to paint because it's soooo pretty, I mostly just smile a lot while painting.

Then I sponged some of Ruby Rush on the tips, also from the same LE Fall 2011 release of Insta-dri shades. It is a very similar vibrancy as Quick Brick, just more red toned (they're the same depth of color, if that makes sense) so a gradient between the two is very very subtle but awesome in person.

Finally I topped it off with another Sally Hansen polish, this one a glitter topper called Ring-a-Ding! from this past spring/summer LE display of Diamond Strength Jewel Overcoat polishes. This is one of those glitters that only has similarly sized large-ish hex glitters in a clear base and nothing else (like Milani Jewel FX, but less dense). I usually find these kinds of polishes really awkward and I suppose indie brands have spoiled me since I am very used to just one dabbled coat of glitter on top. I definitely need 2 (or 2.5 or maybe 3) coats to make this look nice; one coat was too awkwardly sparse in places. The base is very goooopy and does not want to give those glitters up! The mix of colors in Ring-a-Ding! is super pretty, tho - silver, gold, and rose gold.

Don't forget to check out the other 'R' polishes Bee and Kerrie picked out for today! See you back here next Thursday for a 'S' polish

  6. Ruby Rush is just such a gorgeous color. Actually, both the red shades are beautiful. I just like the deepness of Ruby Rush more. ;)

  14. I'm wearing that shade right now. I think that is good when you want to be classy and not to standing out.

I usually prefer the pink shades...more fun and glam to wear :D
