ABC: I is for ILF (semi pic-heavy)

This one is a little pic heavy because, in traditional ManGlaze style, ILF is one gorgeous matte polish and I wanted to show it with and without top coat! I picked this one up along with Mink Mittens and Lesbihonest during their Black Friday sale. I am slowly sneaking towards owning all the ManGlazes polishes (mwhahaha)! Also, because it's been raining for like 6 days straight you get a wide variety of lighting in these photos to show this polish in a lot of different ways - cool, right? The official description for ILF from ManGlaze is "tough, fast-drying, turquoise matte nail polish" - let's take a look.

First I swatctched ILF over two coats of basecoat (after making sure my bc was super dry and waiting like 10 minutes). ILF was a little sheer at one coat, but perfectly opaque at two coats. Matte polishes generally dry fairly quickly, one of the pros to polishes with this finish. I do find that brands like OPI and Zoya mattes dry super fast, tho, and that makes application almost difficult. ManGlaze polishes take a little time to set, which I prefer. After admiring it matte for a long time, I put some HK Girl topcoat over my first two nails and behold - the silver shimmer!

Then I made all my nails glossy; so pretty! *droool* I love this light shade of turquoise and the awesome silver shimmer with top coat. I think in some of these photos ILF can look a little more blue than it maybe is, but I think that's also one of the issues with blue-green polishes + cameras.

ManGlaze is a really fun company and they're pretty hilarious on Facebook; I also like that they're from Chicago (yay Illinois!). They're a small, independent company with really great (semi-off-kilter) customer service. You can easily purchase from their Facebook webstore, or on Amazon. All of their bottles feature some amazing artistic labels, too.

Don't forget to check out the other 'I' polishes Bee and Kerrie picked out for today! See you back here next Thursday for 'J'!!

  1. Such a gorgeous shade of turquoise, and I love that shimmer! Nice to hear it's not too fast-setting too--I had such a hard time getting Zoya's matte to lie down and behave, but this looks smooth and gorgeous! :D

    1. Yes, exactly! I had the hardest time with the Zoya Mod Mattes; they would be uneven on the nail for me too often :-/

  3. I have this color on right now with Elevation Catch a wave over it. It is so pretty, but,..... It chipped the first day. Today, two days into the manicure I have two chips and need to take it off and re-do it. Do you think that Matte polish chips faster than regular polish? I love all the Manglaze colors that I have but they don't wear very well. What base do you use with them?

    1. Hi! Most people do have problems with mattes and holos chipping quite quickly. ManGlaze matte polishes in particular don't chip on me personally; they do show wear at the tip faster for me than other polishes, tho. For this swatch I used two coats of OPI Natural Base Coat (my go-to base coat for a while now) and waited a reallllly long time for it to be totally dry before applying the ManGlaze. Some people do sandwiches for mattes and holos to get them to last longer - base coat (wait to dry), matte polish, top coat (wait to dry) and then a final layer of matte polish. I hope that helps!!
