Digit-al Dozen + TGIF: Rainbow Honey Kawako Swatch & Review

I've got something special to share with y'all! It's a swatch and quick review of one of the new limited edition Rainbow Honey polishes named Kawako from the Yokai collection. Rainbow Honey is a really creative and fabulous indie brand that came to fame with their My Little Pony inspired collection, Equestria. I love the attention to detail that they have with their products; great packaging and branding and they even put the polish label on the top of the bottle (which is super helpful when digging in a Helmer). So this isn't a typical Halloween polish, but it is inspired by a river demon and it is super pretty!

"Kawako" is our interpretation of the Kappa, depicted as everything from a water sprite to a river demon. Erring on the gentler side, "Kawako" is full of gorgeous silver and ice blue shimmer, with the occasional iridescent blue flake.  (from Rainbow Honey)
Their description is so right on! It is a mysterious shade of blue, with it's icy, irregular shimmer and small pieces of blurple iridescent flakes. This shade is reminiscent of some harder to find navy blues with silver glitter (Starry Night, to name one in particular) but with an added edge.

I did two coats of polish without any undies; the polish was really opaque and could be a one-coater with very careful application!! The consistency was thicker than an 'average' polish, but I find that to be advantageous because I paint with thicker coats. I would warn that this polish is just the teensiest bit challenging to apply because of the flakies; they can stick up in various places (tips and near the cuticle) and require some attention if you're one of the many people that prefer their end result to be glassy smooth. On the second coat the flakes provided some texture and made the polish drag a tiny bit. I think next time I use this polish I think I will layer it over a base color both to conserve polish and see if I can help the blurple flakies to shine more. All in all I think this polish is really beautiful and mysterious; not your average shimmery dark blue by far!

Don't forget to check out the other Digit-al Dozen ladies today! I can't believe it's the last day of this fun week already.

Psstt don't forget to check out Kirsten's TGIF post over at Geeky Owl! She's my TGIF partner in crime and she's also linked up above in the Digit-al Dozen inLinkz.

"Kawako" is a really beautiful and mysterious blue polish with complex shimmer and occasional flakies. It takes a little patience in application, but it is worth it because the end result is stunning. It is one polish of a three part limited edition collection for fall from Rainbow Honey that becomes available 10/13 12:01 AM EST at Rainbowhoney.com.

From the information I have, the Yokai Collection will only be available in full-sized bottles and they retail $10 for 15ml
